The cost of grime

In an article in today's Daily Express, property expert Sarah Beeny is quoted as saying "If you spend a bit of time cleaning, you can reap monetary rewards."

When did you ever need a better excuse to pick up a mop?

This is in response to new research which claims that a clean house is guaranteed to sell quicker and for a higher price than an untidy one.

The Daily Express claims that up to £10, 000 could be knocked off the price of a house by dirty bathrooms, grubby kitchens and sticky carpets.

A survey of 200 estate agents and 2,000 house hunters claimed that the biggest turn offs are pungent smells, unhygienic bathrooms and messy kitchens.

TOP TIP - to combat smells in the fridge leave a pot of bicarbonate of soda in there and it will absorb all odours.

TOP TIP - light a scented candle in a bathroom to get rid of smells. They burn off all nasty air bourne molecules and leave a homely scent.
