The cost of grime

In an article in today's Daily Express, property expert Sarah Beeny is quoted as saying "If you spend a bit of time cleaning, you can reap monetary rewards."

When did you ever need a better excuse to pick up a mop?

This is in response to new research which claims that a clean house is guaranteed to sell quicker and for a higher price than an untidy one.

The Daily Express claims that up to £10, 000 could be knocked off the price of a house by dirty bathrooms, grubby kitchens and sticky carpets.

A survey of 200 estate agents and 2,000 house hunters claimed that the biggest turn offs are pungent smells, unhygienic bathrooms and messy kitchens.

TOP TIP - to combat smells in the fridge leave a pot of bicarbonate of soda in there and it will absorb all odours.

TOP TIP - light a scented candle in a bathroom to get rid of smells. They burn off all nasty air bourne molecules and leave a homely scent.

The perfect housewife....

Perhaps this will of interest if your husband or partner believes that housework is a woman's job..

I spotted this article in the Daily Express today...

http://tinyurl.com/housework111

It seems that Will Palmer used to think the housework duties were down to his partner - until he had an eye operation. The corneal transplant has transformed his vision and turned him into the perfect housewife! He now notices every speck of dust and just can't help but do the cleaning. Will said: 'I must admit that at first I did start to joke that I had been given the cornea of a woman!"

I'm really pleased Will has become a cleaning fanatic - I just hope it doesn't take an eye transplant for all the men in our lives to help with the housework!

Getting the best out of your day

It has been reported in the Daily Express this week that your health prospects can vary from one hour to the next, so you can get the best out of your day by splitting your tasks and general things to do into hourly slots.

The best time for cleaning the house was outlined as 3pm - 4pm in the research because: "Dusting and vacuuming throws allergens into the air which take at least an hour to settle at ground level again. Cleaning now means they're not circulating when allergy-suffering members of the family get home."

What a Clever Clean Tip!
